Last year when I was traveling away from Cali due to fire in Boulder creek, my songwriting circle appropriately chose ‘WildFire’ as our topic of the week.

I remember I was listening to this sing as inspiration, when Moonfrog music reached out with this gorgeous cover and asked if I would sing the lead. I was 💯 in. I have always been obsessed with this song, and His version is so so beautiful.

When I got home, there was an infamous day of no sun in the Bay Area. Apocalyptic and Eerie as all hell. I decided it was the perfect day to record these vocals.

Moonfrog a few weeks later asked if I would add the opening verse Acapella.On that day me and my love drove straight through the Glass Fire in Sonoma. Houses burning on both sides of the car. It was very surreal. When I got home, I added the last layer of Vox.

The cover image was captured at the site of a friends house who burned down in ashland. She wanted to encapsulate it with a Persephone photo shoot. The harvest from the underworld journey.

For me this track incapsulates the process of reckoning with the wildfires in the west, and brings a soothing watery balm to my nervous system.
